Diarrhea, malaria, rheumatism, ulcers, worm infestation, asthma and cough, diabetes, hypertension, mental disorders, and impotence were among the diseases for which conventional medicine saw it as a viable alternative therapy. Some of its ethnomedicinal knowledge have been ethnic pharmacologically validated and published in peer-reviewed journals. As a consequence, the focus of this research is on a current assessment of its confirmed ethnomedicinal activities, which will serve as a research horizon for present and future researchers.
