This study was therefore carried out with the aim of describing the level of knowledge and the attitude of the adolescents towards HIV/AIDS. Methods: This was a descriptive cross sectional study, carried out among in-school adolescents in Osun State, Southwestern Nigeria. The multi-stage sampling technique was used to select the respondents and data was collected with pre-tested, semi-structured questionnaires which were self administered and supervised by trained research assistants. A total of 410 questionnaires were administered, but only 400 (97.6%) were properly filled and analysed. Data were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 16. Level of significance was set with p-value less than or equal to 0.05. Results: Majority of the respondents (185, 46.2%) were middle adolescents i.e. 14 – 16 years of age with a mean age of 14.2 ± 2.2 years. Most of the respondents (387, 96.8%) were aware of the disease called AIDS, but only 198 (49.5%) had good knowledge after scoring the outcome variables for knowledge and categorizing the scores. The categorization of attitude scores revealed that 206 (51.5%) had positive or accepting attitude towards HIV/AIDS and persons living with it, while others (194, 48.5%) had poor attitudes towards them. Age and class were significantly associated with the knowledge about HIV/AIDS, while age, gender, class, family settings and knowledge about HIV/AIDS were significantly associated with attitude towards HIV/AIDS and people living with it. Conclusion: The study revealed that the level of awareness about AIDS among respondents was high, but their comprehensive knowledge about HIV/AIDS was not correspondingly high. Their attitude towards HIV/AIDS and those living with it was also rather poor. Policy makers in adolescent reproductive health should work towards designing educational programmes targeting adolescents which should address the common misconceptions and negative attitude about HIV/AIDS.

Conclusion: C. sakazakii microorganisms resist acid and alkaline effect for more than 30 minutes. At acidic pH 3, 3.5 and 5, there was a decrease in viable counts of C. sakazakii. Also, the same thing at pH 9 and 11, there was decrease in and no detection of the organism at pH 11 for 40 minutes. Using 4% NaCl is an effective mean to kill C. sakazakii in 40 minutes. Sodium Hypochlorite at concentration 4% kills C. sakazakii in 20 minutes. Using lactic acid at concentration 0.3% v/v is considered to be an effective mean to inactivate of C. sakazakii in dehydrated powdered infant formula. Although a majority of C. sakazakii cells were inactivated by storage in dehydrated powdered infant formula, portion of the cells were highly resistant to the storage conditions and survived for extended periods in dehydrated powdered infant formula.
